Spotted a bear last week and used this app hack to stay safe

I was hiking solo in Shenandoah and saw a bear near the trail. I used a hiking app to drop a pin with a warning for other users. What apps do you recommend for real-time trail updates?

Nice move, way smarter than my usual strategy of just yelling at my phone. I mostly use AllTrails for that, when I remember to check it instead of just getting lost. My real-time updates usually come from tripping over roots.

Outside magazine had an article last month about how often those hiking app maps are wrong. Makes my own root-based navigation system feel a bit more valid.
