I got lost on a backroad and ended up in this valley full of wildflowers. It felt like stepping into another world. How come more people don't know about these places?

I read a piece on Wired last month about how GPS systems are designed. It said they use pre-set maps and algorithms that prioritize paved, known roads. So when you go off-road, the system literally CANNOT compute it properly. That's why it seems like your GPS hates you for finding cool spots. It's frustrating because it feels like the technology is REALLY limiting our exploration. But honestly, those unplanned routes are where the best memories happen.
