Heads up on new eco laws for shop runoff

I just got a fine for dumping old solvent down the drain. Turns out, our county has strict rules on hazardous waste from gunsmithing. How are you guys handling chemical disposal in your shops?

Strict rules on hazardous waste" feels like overkill for a small shop. Why should a few gallons of solvent matter when factories dump way worse daily? The county just wants fine money, not a cleaner environment. Proper disposal costs me more than the fine anyway.

Remember that solvents from shops can ruin drinking water.

But if every small shop thinks their few gallons don't matter, what's the total seeping into the ground? Those chemicals build up over years, not just pour out in one big factory spill.
