Found a $12 moisture meter at harbor freight that actually works

Kept overwatering my snake plant until it got root rot. Tried the finger test but that never worked for me. This little meter has two prongs and tells you exactly when to water. Has anyone else had good luck with cheap plant tools?

My friend Sarah has the exact same meter and she's been raving about it for months after she turned her peace lily into a crispy mess. @christopher_craig is totally right that the finger test is a gamble, especially when you're dealing with something like a fern that just keels over if you sneeze near it. Sarah said she went from checking her plants every three days to once a week and everything started perking up again. She even brought it to my house once to test my monstera and I swear the meter read bone dry while the top soil felt damp. For twelve bucks you can't beat that kind of peace of mind.

Honestly same here with the finger test, I killed two ferns before I gave up on it. That moisture meter sounds like a solid find for twelve bucks.
