Finally got my '78 Honda CB750 to idle after 3 years of it just sitting there
Used to just spray starter fluid and pray, but after watching a YouTube video last winter I actually cleaned the carbs proper with a ultrasonic cleaner, and now it idles smooth for the first time since 2019 - has anyone else had a carb cleaning turn a dead bike into something that actually runs?

Man, that's the best feeling isn't it? I've got an old bike that sat for two years before I finally broke down and did the carb thing (ultrasonic cleaner really is a game changer for that). Nothing beats that moment when it finally idles on its own after all that time and frustration.

Nah, I gotta disagree with you there. Tbh, the feeling of finally getting it running is great, but I don't think it beats the moment you figure out exactly what was wrong. Like, for me, it's when you're staring at some crusty old part and it finally clicks why it was causing all the trouble. That lightbulb moment is way more satisfying than just hearing it idle. Once you know the root cause, the fix itself feels almost like a formality.
