Shoutout to my old e-reader's weird glitch that taught me to backup everything

I had this e-reader that would randomly delete books after updates. It drove me crazy for weeks until I realized the sync was broken. I figured out how to manually save my library to my computer, and now I never lose anything. Honestly, if your gadget doesn't let you backup easily, it's junk, lmao. Fixing this made me see how important user control is.

My old Kindle wiped out like 27 books after one update and I just sat there staring at it for a full minute. I felt so betrayed by a rectangle. Now I have backup folders on my laptop that are a chaotic mess, but at least they exist. It's kind of funny how a device failing so badly is what finally taught me to be less lazy about my own files.

But what if all that backing up just makes things worse? @morgan94, those messy folders might cost you more time digging through them than you'd spend just getting new books. I know someone who had three copies of everything and still couldn't find what they needed. Relying on the cloud or just buying stuff again can be easier than managing your own chaos. A device failing is rare, but a messy backup system causes constant low grade stress. Maybe accepting some loss is part of using tech.
