I'm restoring a 1920s vanity and the old wax is rock hard. Any tips for getting it off safely?

Try a hair dryer on low heat to soften it. But honestly, is decades-old wax really that bad to leave alone?

Ever tried getting old wax out of anything? My last attempt went as badly as my middle school haircut, @miller.linda. Maybe don't take my advice on leaving it alone.

Wow, @miller.linda, I have to disagree a bit. Old wax can get brittle and crack, letting moisture in and causing damage. The hair dryer idea is smart to soften it, but you should clean it off after. Leaving it for decades might seem fine, but it could lead to bigger issues down the road. It's better to deal with it now while you're thinking about it.
