Surprise visits during work hours is a wild strategy. My dad tried that once while I was sealing a roof. Told him to either hand me nails or get off the ladder. Maybe yours could start charging you for the "interruption consulting" he's doing.

But did your dad actually hand you the nails or did he just leave? That interruption consulting bit is funny, but it makes me wonder if he ever took the hint. Has he surprised you at work since then, or did that moment change how he acts? Setting boundaries like that can be really hard when it's family. What did you say to him after you got down from the ladder?

My dad actually left after a weird pause, so the hint didn't land. Hernandez.jesse is right that family boundaries are tough, and that moment didn't really change much. He still calls during meetings, but now I just don't answer.
