My ladle was clogging with slag until I tried this simple fix

Yesterday, during a big pour, the slag in my ladle started to harden and block the flow. I panicked for a second, then recalled that preheating the ladle with a torch for a minute helps. It melted the slag right away and let me finish the job. SERIOUSLY, this little trick saved me hours of cleanup.

It's one of those things that seems totally obvious once you hear it, but you just don't think of it when you're staring at a clogged spout. Finley_singh is right about it being obvious after the fact. I bet half the guys in my shop have done that same long chip-out job just because their brain froze.
