Brace and bit made my antique table repair a breeze
Some folks think hand tools are too slow now that we have drills and drivers. I had a loose leg on an old oak table and used my grandpa's brace and bit instead of my cordless drill. The slow turning let me set the depth just right and not split the wood. Do you still practice these older techniques, or is it all power tools today?

Honestly, I've moved on from stuff like that for most jobs. A good drill with a clutch setting gives you that same control to not split wood, but in a fraction of the time. My experience is that saving time on the basic stuff lets me focus more on the finer details of a project. I'll still break out a hand tool for a super delicate trim or something, but for setting a screw? Power tools all the way for me.

My old cordless drill stripped so many screws I went back to a hand driver for a while. Maybe it's just me but that clutch never feels totally right.
