I bought a $300 'smart' plant mister for the shop...

It was supposed to keep the humidity perfect for the display cooler flowers, but the sensor broke after two weeks. Now I just use a regular spray bottle and check things myself... anyone have a simpler gadget that actually lasts?

My old greenhouse had a cheap analog humidistat wired to a basic humidifier. That thing ran for eight years without a single issue. Sometimes the old school tech is just more reliable because there's less to break. I get why the smart stuff is tempting, but a simple mechanical switch and a daily walk-through seems to beat a fragile sensor.

Sounds like my smart home's more fragile than that humidistat.

Right, because a daily walk-through is exactly what I want to add to my list of chores. My smart sensor fails once and I have to look at an app. Your old setup fails and you don't even know until your plants are dead because you skipped your walk that day. That's not reliability, that's just a different kind of problem waiting to happen.
