That tricky transition strip finally clicked for me yesterday

I always DREADED doing the hardwood to carpet transitions in hallways because they never sat flush. But I tried a new angle with the undercut saw and the fit was just RIGHT. What's your favorite trick for seamless transitions between different floor types?

Getting those transitions right is such a win! I read a tip in a DIY magazine about using a profile gauge to copy the exact shape of the flooring edge. For carpet to tile, I traced the tile lip with the gauge and cut the carpet pad to match perfectly. @emma53, I totally get the dread, but this method saved me so much time. Another trick is to slightly bevel the hardwood edge before adding the strip for a smoother look. It makes all the difference when everything lines up just right!

What angle did you use with the saw?

Ugh, isn't that always the hardest part?
