Debate: is a hallway bathroom with two doors ever a good idea, or just a nightmare in disguise?
I saw a listing last week for a 3-bedroom ranch in Columbus. The floor plan had a bathroom between two bedrooms with doors on both sides. One door faced the living room, the other faced the master. My buddy says it's genius for a shared kids bathroom. I think it's a recipe for zero privacy and constant awkward run-ins. Which side wins? Has anyone actually lived with one of these double-door setups?

Actually Columbus is about 2 hours from me but I know the market there. A neighbor of mine had a similar setup in a split-level in Grove City and they ended up putting a pocket door on one side to fix the privacy thing. So if you're buying that ranch a quick reno might save you from the awkward run-ins. What was the square footage on that listing?

oh my friend had this exact issue with a ranch in Westerville. she went with the pocket door thing too but it was a total nightmare because the wall had some kind of plumbing in it and they had to move pipes. cost her like an extra grand. but now she says you can't even tell it was ever an issue. the weirdest part is she said the open layout actually made her feel like she saw her roommate way more before the door, now she barely sees her. small price to pay for not having to make awkward eye contact over coffee.
