Just realized I chose to fix my 1990s boombox instead of buying a new Bluetooth speaker
I had a broken tape deck and a blown fuse, and my friend said to just get a modern speaker for about $60. I spent $12 on parts and three evenings fixing it, and now it sounds great. Does anyone think the sound from these old units is actually better than new ones?

That 1990s boombox probably has a real amplifier chip in it, not just a digital board. In my experience, that gives you a warmer sound, especially at lower volumes, compared to a lot of the small Bluetooth stuff. Paulp45 might trade his dignity for pizza, but you traded a few evenings for way better sound quality.

Did you factor in the cost of your dignity?

Dignity? I lost that years ago, the_joseph. I traded it for a free t-shirt at a car wash once. Then I spent an hour explaining blockchain to my aunt for some leftover pizza. My dignity's price tag is basically whatever gets me through the day without having to put on real pants. What's the going rate for yours these days?
