Shoutout to the guy at the flea market who told me to 'check the serial numbers' on vintage tools

Last month I spent $12 on a rusty old hammer at a flea market in Ohio, and after checking the serial number like he said, I found out it was a 1944 wartime issue that collectors pay $200 for, has anyone else stumbled into a hidden gem by asking a random stranger for advice?

Follow that gut feeling when random strangers give you advice, it's wild how often people just know stuff that ends up being gold. I've noticed this weird pattern where the most helpful tips come from totally unexpected places, like a guy in line at the grocery store telling me the best way to fix a squeaky door (it was WD-40 on the hinges, seriously). It's like the universe drops little clues when you're not even looking for them, you just have to be ready to listen.

Honestly, that grocery store guy was right, WD-40 fixes nearly everything around the house.
