My old garage door opener finally quit after 15 years and I had to pick between a new chain drive or a belt drive model.

I went with the belt drive because the guy at the store said it was a lot quieter, and honestly it's been worth the extra $120. Has anyone else switched from chain to belt and noticed a big difference in noise?

My neighbor's chain drive sounds like a rock tumbler compared to my new belt.

Oh man, @riley860, I know that exact sound. I just put some of that drip lube on my old chain and it quieted it down a ton. Maybe your neighbor just needs a quick maintenance check.
