My first yoga class left me tangled in my own limbs.

In my experience, starting yoga to reduce stress backfired immediately. I tried a beginner flow but ended up on the floor more than once. Your mileage may vary, but I learned I'm not as flexible as I thought. Take this with a grain of salt, but maybe I'll try swimming instead.

Falling down in yoga doesn't mean you're doing it wrong. Most people wipe out trying to hold warrior three for the first time. Flexibility comes with practice, not as a starting requirement. I spent my first month face-planting in crow pose. The stress relief might kick in once you stop fighting your own body.

Consider my face a yoga mat for gravity, honestly.

Yeah flexibility coming with practice is how most things worth learning go.
