I finally got a stubborn post to stop wobbling with a bag of frozen peas.
The ground was too hard for my usual trick, so I duct taped a bag of frozen peas around the base for an hour. It shrank the soil just enough to get a solid pack. Anyone ever use something weird as a temporary frost wedge?

Wouldn't the peas just thaw and make the ground wet again later?

That's the long-term plan. Let the ground enjoy a brief, dry moment before the great pea thaw of tomorrow.

Feel your pain, that ground gets like concrete. I once used a bag of party ice on a wobbly deck post because it was all I had in the cooler. Left it there while I ate lunch and it actually did the trick. Sometimes you just have to get creative with whatever's in the freezer.
