Shoutout to the guy who told me 'pockets ruin the line' of a dress
I was at a local design meetup in Portland last week, and a guy spent ten minutes explaining why functional pockets in women's wear are a design flaw. He said they 'compromise the silhouette'. My crew and I work with actual function every day, and that logic is like saying a pipe shouldn't have threads because it looks cleaner. A good design solves both. Has anyone else had to argue for basic utility like this?

I used to think that way about pockets too, but seeing how Claire McCardell did it really changed my mind. She proved you can have both.

Check out how she even put pockets in evening gowns, which is pretty wild for the 1930s.

That guy's take is so tired. Just tell him to look up Claire McCardell's work, she solved that problem like 80 years ago.
