Remember when everyone used to line their pockets with that cheap, shiny satin?
I was cleaning out my old portfolio from design school and found a jacket I made in 2010. The pocket bags were completely shredded because I used that flimsy lining fabric everyone said was fine. Now I see new designers online still doing it, and their stuff falls apart after a few months. I switched to a cotton twill for bags about five years ago and my pieces last way longer. Anyone else have a small material swap that made a huge difference?

Man, my buddy learned this the hard way. He bought this really cool vintage-style jacket at a market, paid good money for it. The outside was perfect but the pocket lining was that exact cheap satin stuff. One winter of him putting his hands in his pockets, just car keys and a phone, and both pockets ripped straight through at the corners. Total bummer. He showed it to me and it was like tissue paper back there. That flimsy lining ruins otherwise solid gear.

But come on, how hard was he really using those pockets? My daily jacket has that lining and it's fine after years. Maybe he was jamming his whole fist in there with keys sticking out. Some wear and tear is just normal, not a design flaw.
