Had to choose between a new anvil or a hydraulic press for the shop

Went with the press because it was on sale for $1,800, but now I'm kicking myself every time I have to hand-dress a shoe. Anyone else regret a big tool buy?

My old farrier in Montana always said a good anvil is the heart of the shop. That press won't help you shape a single horseshoe.

I mean, I get the regret, but @ward.fiona might be right about the heart of the shop thing. My buddy got a killer deal on a bandsaw once and spent the next year tripping over it because he couldn't find room to use it.

Is it really that big of a deal? You got a major tool for a good price, so maybe just save up for the anvil next. It's not like your old methods stopped working.

Does that press even fit in most home hobbyist shops though?
