Bought a $200 hoof stand with a magnetic tray, and it's been a mixed bag

Saw one at a clinic in Boise and thought it would be a game changer for keeping nails and tools handy. The magnet is strong enough, sure, but the first time I used it on a fresh shoe, the whole thing tipped over when the horse shifted. Spent ten minutes picking up hot nails from the gravel. It works fine in a quiet barn, but on a real job site it's more of a hazard than a help. Anyone have a better setup for keeping your gear organized without it becoming a tipping hazard?

Maybe @lilyb27 had the right idea with that welded base. Sounds like you need weight more than magnets.

My old boss in Montana welded a heavy steel plate to the bottom of his stand.
