My plan to fix a leaky sink turned into a three day plumbing puzzle
I figured replacing the faucet in my kitchen would be a quick afternoon job. The old one was dripping and I had a new one ready. The problem was the old mounting nuts underneath were completely rusted and stuck. I tried every tool I had, even a special basin wrench I bought for $25. After two hours of struggling, I gave up and called a plumber friend for advice. He told me to try a mix of penetrating oil and a hacksaw, which I did. That whole mess took me three full days of working after my regular job. I learned that sometimes a simple plan needs a pro's help from the start. Has anyone else had a small home fix blow up into a multi-day project?

Ever think you could outsmart a simple home repair? I used to believe stubborn bolts would bow to my will and a YouTube video, but my own bathroom sink disaster proved me wrong. Now I just call someone before the first tool comes out.

Honestly I tried fixing a leaky faucet once and ended up flooding my kitchen, so I feel you.

And that's the thing nobody talks about - it's not always the big repairs that get you. It's the small stuff that you think is simple that ends up being a COMPLETE nightmare. Like I swear those DIY videos make you think you can fix anything but they don't tell you about the random pipe fitting that doesn't match or the ancient shut off valve that just crumbles. Worst part is once you start you can't just stop and call someone because then they charge extra for coming out on an emergency basis. Honestly I think the REAL trick is knowing when to admit you're outmatched before you even pick up a wrench.
