I picked the wrong college major and it cost me two years
After high school, I had to choose between going to the local community college for a culinary arts program or taking out loans for a business degree at State University. I went with the business degree because it felt like the 'safe' choice everyone pushed for. I spent two years and about $15,000 in debt before I realized I hated every class and was failing. I dropped out, went back to the community college program, and now I'm actually happy as a line cook. Has anyone else switched paths after a big, expensive mistake like that?

My cousin did that with law school, racked up 80k before he quit. He's a park ranger now and way happier.

Good for him. Med school debt is brutal, and if he found something that makes him happy, he made the right call. My nephew did the same thing with engineering, walked away from a six figure job to run a food truck. People think it's crazy, but burnout is real and money ain't everything. Better to be a happy bike mechanic than a miserable doctor.
