Took me 30 years to admit my mom was right about leaving dishes in the sink overnight

I always thought she was being controlling. Like who cares if a few plates sit there until morning? But last week I left a pan with tomato sauce in the sink and woke up to fruit flies everywhere. Had to throw out a whole bag of onions because they got into it. Now I wash everything before I go to bed because I'd rather spend 10 minutes at 2am than deal with bugs again. Anyone else have a parent thing they finally caved on?

Felt that one. I leave half a glass of water in the sink and the next morning there's mold.

Wait, is that actually a thing? I heard somewhere that leaving standing water out attracts like, airborne bacteria or something.
