My client had a crazy reaction to a calming mask during a facial
I was doing a standard facial in my treatment room when a client's face got super red and puffy from a chamomile mask she'd used before without issue. I immediately removed it, applied a cool compress, and used a basic aloe gel I keep on hand for ten minutes until it calmed down. Has anyone else had a product suddenly turn on a regular client?

You mentioned she'd used that chamomile mask before without issue. Did she mention any changes in her medication or stress levels recently? Sometimes a new prescription or even a really bad week can completely change how skin reacts.

From my experience as a hygienist, I've seen this exact thing happen with patients using oral care products too. One lady switched to a new mint toothpaste, no problem for months, then suddenly her gums were raw and peeling. Turns out she had started taking blood pressure medication that changed her saliva chemistry. Something as simple as a different generic brand at the pharmacy can throw everything off. I always tell people to keep a little diary for a week, write down every new pill, food, drink, or stress trigger, because the culprit is never the obvious one like that chamomile mask.

That point about new medication is so true, @seth_martinez21. I had a regular client who suddenly broke out in hives from her usual vitamin C serum. Turns out she had just started a strong antibiotic for a sinus infection a few days before. Her skin just went into total freak-out mode over a product she'd used for years. It's wild how something internal can flip a switch like that.
