I thought those LED light masks were just a gimmick
A client in my Tempe studio kept asking about them, so I finally got a basic red/blue one to try. After using it myself for 3 weeks, the reduction in active breakouts on my chin was real. Has anyone else had a specific client skin type where these really worked or flopped?

My Tempe studio has the Omnilux Contour masks for client use. The key detail most people miss is you need to use them on completely clean, dry skin. Any leftover serum or moisturizer creates a barrier and the light can't penetrate right. I've seen them flop when clients use them over their night cream, thinking it will help the product sink in. It does the opposite.

Oh wow, my friend with super oily skin tried one and it totally backfired! She broke out in these tiny red bumps all over her cheeks after just a few uses. Her derm said it was probably too much for her already angry skin.

@baker.riley makes a good point about the clean skin. But something else I noticed with my test clients - the timing matters a lot. I had two women with similar rosacea-prone skin try the same mask. One used it first thing in the morning and her skin calmed down. The other used it at night after removing makeup and her face turned bright red. I think the morning use worked because her skin hadn't been exposed to any products or irritants yet. The evening user's skin was already a little angry from the day, and the light just made it worse.
