Warning: Had a governor rope slip on a 12 story job in Cincinnati
I was setting up a new traction machine on the top floor when the governor rope jumped its sheave. The rope frayed against the edge, making a loud grinding noise. I shut everything down, inspected the sheave alignment, and found a worn guide. Replaced the guide, re-roped the governor, and ran a full safety test. Has anyone else had a governor rope jump like that on a fresh install?

Totally agree with @craig.grant, it's a physical pain. That high pitched squeal just grates right into your brain. My whole body cringes every single time. They need to make a law against sounds like that.
