Overheard a building manager in Seattle complaining about a stuck door on a 2004 Kone

He was telling the super that the car door kept hanging up on the second floor, and his fix was just hitting the guide with a mallet. Honestly, that got me thinking about how many times a simple roller adjustment gets missed because folks jump to force. What's your go-to method for checking door alignment before you even touch a tool?

You know, that line about "a simple roller adjustment gets missed" really hits home. I used to be the guy reaching for the mallet first. What changed for me was a door that kept binding no matter how much I whacked it. I finally just got down and looked at the gap along the header. The top was tight on one side and had a huge gap on the other. A five minute level check showed the whole thing was out of plumb. Now I always check for even reveals first, then look for worn rollers. It saves so much headache.

Oh man, @baker.riley, that's the classic "when all you have is a hammer" problem. I've seen so many guys skip the simple check and just start swinging. Your way is smarter, even if it's less fun than hitting stuff.
