Heard a new guy at the supply house say 'the code is just a suggestion' and it made me pause
I mean, that kind of thinking is exactly why we have to go back for callbacks. Anyone else run into this attitude on a job site?

Told a guy once that suggestions don't pay for flooded basements. He shaped up real quick.

Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought giving advice was being helpful. I figured if someone told me what they'd do, that was enough. Then my brother's basement flooded and this one guy showed up with a mop and a bucket and started telling him what he should have done differently. My brother just looked at him and said "Yeah well your suggestions aren't gonna suck up this water." It hit me right then that talk is cheap and real help costs money or time. That changed how I see people who just offer opinions without doing anything. Made me realize there's a big difference between being a helper and being a critic.
