Showerthought: a client said my soldering looked like a 'spider's nest'
I was fixing a vintage radio tuner for a customer in Tacoma, and when he came to pick it up, he pointed at my work and said it looked messy and hard to follow. I started using a magnifier lamp for every single joint, even the quick ones, and my boards are much cleaner now. Do you think neatness matters as much as a solid electrical connection for customer trust?

I mean, I read something once about how messy work can make a client doubt your skill, even if it works perfectly. It's like they see the outside and assume the inside is just as sloppy. So yeah, for trust, neatness is a big deal. It shows you care about the whole job, not just the electrical part.

Exactly, it's like showing up to a fancy dinner in sweatpants. The food might be amazing, but nobody will believe it until they taste it. A messy panel just screams "I rushed this and don't take pride in it," even if every connection is perfect. Clients aren't electricians, so the neat wiring is the only part of the job they can actually see and understand. That first look is everything for their peace of mind.
