Hot take: I dropped $80 on a 'professional' thermal camera attachment for my phone
I thought it would be a game changer for finding shorts and hot components without taking everything apart. Used it maybe three times in six months, and the resolution is so bad it just shows a big blurry warm spot. For the same money, I could have gotten a decent hot air station tip set or a bunch of flux. Now it just sits in my bag. Has anyone actually found a good use for those cheap phone thermal cams, or are they all just junk?

Oh man, that sounds about right. My friend got one and tried to find a draft in his house. The whole wall just looked like a giant warm blob, couldn't tell the window frame from the outlet. It's basically a very expensive way to confirm that yes, your coffee is hot. I keep mine in a drawer as a reminder to read more reviews before buying shiny tech.
