Bought a knockoff hot air station for $40 and it lasted two days

Thought I was being smart saving cash on a repair job. The thing melted its own nozzle on the third board, ruining a perfectly good Xbox motherboard. Wasted the $40 plus the $75 I had to refund the customer. Anyone know a decent budget brand that won't self-destruct?

My buddy's cheap station caught fire in his garage last year, just melted right into his workbench.

Is it really that bad though? I've used cheap stuff before and it's usually fine if you're careful. Maybe you just got a really bad one.
