Just hit 10,000 feet of 12/2 Romex pulled on a single job

We're wiring a new warehouse complex, and I was tallying up the spools. That's over 1.8 miles of cable just for the branch circuits (which is a lot, you know?). Some guys think pulling that much on one site means we planned it well and saved trips. Others say it points to a design that's too spread out and could have been more efficient. What's your take on a big number like that, good planning or a red flag?

Is a big number of wire always a sign of good work? I've seen jobs where they used a ton of cable because the panel locations were just poorly planned from the start. It saved trips to the truck, but the whole layout was a mess. Sometimes it just means the building is huge and simple, like a big open warehouse. I wouldn't call it a red flag on its own without seeing the prints.

Hot take: Good planning, not a red flag. That's a huge amount of cable, but it really depends on the job. A warehouse is just a big empty box, so long home runs from a central panel make sense. The number alone doesn't tell you much. You'd need to see the panel schedule and layout to spot real waste. Sometimes a lot of wire just means a big, simple building.

Yeah but @terry1, a big simple building can still have a wasteful layout, right?
