I thought those magnetic wire holders were a gimmick, but after using them on a rewire in a 1920s Denver bungalow last month, they saved me at least an hour of fishing lines through joists.

What other small tools have you guys found that seemed silly at first but turned out to be legit?

Honestly, those right-angle attachments @ryanperez mentioned are a total game changer for old houses. Felt the same way about my little telescoping inspection mirror until I found a live wire tucked behind a beam. That cheap thing saved me from a real bad day.
