Swapped my $200 gym membership for bodyweight workouts in my basement
I used to think you needed all those machines and cables to build muscle, but after 6 months of just pushups, pullups on a doorframe bar, and pistol squats, I'm actually stronger and leaner than when I had a trainer. The concrete detail that sold me was my buddy who's a parkour instructor saying he hasn't touched a dumbbell in 4 years and can still do 20 muscle-ups. Has anyone else here ditched the gym setup and seen better results?

My husband and I switched to mostly bodyweight stuff about 2 years ago when our third kid came along and we just couldn't justify the time or money for a gym anymore. I got a set of resistance bands off Amazon for like 30 bucks and do a mix of squats, pushups, and lunges in our living room while the kids are napping. Honestly, my arms are more defined now than when I was paying a trainer 100 bucks a week, and I don't have to stress about finding a sitter just to workout.

Used to roll my eyes at the home gym crowd but you're making a solid case here. Might have to finally give those resistance bands a shot.
