Found out my grandpa's old toolbox is worth more than I thought

I was cleaning out my garage last weekend and looked up that old Craftsman toolbox from the 1950s that's been sitting there forever. Turns out people pay around $400 for those on eBay, and I almost gave it to the scrap guy. Has anyone else found something in their parents' basement that surprised them with its value?

My friend's dad had an old toy train set in their attic that turned out to be worth over a thousand dollars. He was literally about to donate it to Goodwill before his neighbor saw it and freaked out. Makes you wonder what other people are throwing away without checking first.

@lily_schmidt53 sounds like a fun story but guessing most attics just have dust and old magazines.
