After 6 months of tracking, my 5K time dropped by 90 seconds from one change

Tbh I was stuck at 28 minutes for like 4 months straight. Then I switched from heel striking to midfoot landing and my time hit 26:30 by month 6. The difference was just paying attention to where my foot hit the pavement on every run. Anyone else seen a change just from tweaking your form instead of grinding harder?

My buddy dropped 45 seconds just by not looking at his feet anymore.

whoa hold on, is it really that deep lol? like yeah form changes can help but i feel like people overhype this stuff. @jessica_dixon mentioned her buddy dropped time by not looking at his feet - maybe that's just placebo effect from focusing on something new. i've seen runners get obsessed with their foot strike and then end up with shin splints or weird hip pain because they're overthinking it. plus 90 seconds over 6 months could just be your body naturally adapting to running more consistently, not some magic form tweak. not saying form doesn't matter at all, just cautioning against treating it like the only answer.
