Saw something odd at the hardware store in Toledo last Thursday

I was picking up a box of 1 5/8 inch screws and noticed a young guy buying a 4 foot level for taping. He told the cashier 'a longer level is a waste of money for finishing'. I've always believed a quality 6 foot level is the best tool for checking seams. What's the shortest level you'd trust for a quality finish?

Man, that reminds me of a guy I saw at a supply house once. He was buying a tiny torpedo level to check a ten foot section of duct. I just stood there shaking my head. The thing was practically a toy. He swore it was fine if he "did it in sections." Saw the job later, looked like a roller coaster. Some people just won't listen.

Yeah that's a classic. Got stuck with a long run once and only had a short level. Tried the section method and it was a mess. Ended up just snapping a chalk line and using that as a guide. Worked way better than trying to piece it together. Sometimes you gotta go back to the simple fixes.
