Borrowed a buddy's hot mud trick after 15 years of waiting for regular compound to dry

Switched to 20 minute hot mud for the seams on a garage ceiling job outside Phoenix, and finishing a full room in under 2 hours felt like cheating, has anyone else had a project where the time savings were just ridiculous?

Man I gotta disagree with you on this one. That fast drying mud can be a real headache if you're not working fast enough or the humidity's off, and rush jobs lead to cracks I end up fixing later. Regular compound's slower but way more forgiving for a solid finish.

My buddy Jake tried the 20 minute stuff on his basement and ended up with a fist-sized crack because he was too slow getting it on the tape. @noran21 is right that fast mud punishes you quick if you're not dialed in.
