Overheard a guy at the hardware store tell his buddy 'just ask her what she means by that' and it stuck with me
I was grabbing a new tape measure in the tool aisle and some older guy was giving advice to a younger one about dealing with a coworker who never gives straight answers. He said something like 'when people dodge, you gotta hammer down on the specifics until they can't wiggle out, not let them change the subject.' Made me think about how many times I've let vague answers slide in meetings or emails because I didn't want to be pushy. Has anyone else found a simple trick that forces people to actually answer the question instead of dancing around it?

Ngl people let others off the hook way too easy in everyday life.

People get uncomfortable with confrontation and just let things slide to avoid tension. But that just teaches people that inconsiderate behavior doesn't have consequences. A little pushback goes a long way in keeping everyone accountable.
