Had a cutterhead jam on the Columbia River that nearly bent the ladder

We were pulling up old logging debris and a massive root ball just locked everything up solid. Ever had to reverse the flow under pressure to clear something like that?

Man, that's scary. I've always worried more about the sudden shock load on the whole dredge frame when something lets go.

My last jam bent more than the ladder.

Actually, a good jam shouldn't bend the ladder at all. That usually means the bale was wound way too tight. You want it firm but still a little springy when you press on it.
