Warning: I spent 3 days dimensioning a steel frame on the wrong layer set in AutoCAD

Last Tuesday night I was finishing up a beam layout for a warehouse job in Detroit and realized every single line was drawn on a frozen layer I had accidentally left active. My senior drafter pointed it out when he tried to plot the print and got nothing but blank space. Has anyone else had a dumb layer mix-up that cost them a bunch of rework time?

What did you end up doing to fix it? I had a similar thing happen a few years back where I did an entire parking lot grading plan on a defpoints layer that was set to not plot. Took me a whole weekend to move everything to the right layer and reassign all the lineweights. Ever since then I double check my layer status before I start anything new.
