Switched from a 2015 Dell workstation to a new machine with an RTX 4070 for 3D modeling

I was working on a big residential project in Austin, a 5,000 square foot model that used to take about 45 minutes to fully render on my old setup. After the upgrade, the same render finishes in under 8 minutes. The difference in handling complex assemblies is night and day. Has anyone else made a similar hardware jump recently and seen this kind of time save?

Wait @janaw11 do you even do a lot of commercial work though? Like yeah 45 minutes to 8 is a big jump but on our bigger hospitality jobs with tons of glass and metal that old machine would choke on the file before it even got to rendering.

That's a huge time save, but is it actually a big deal for your work flow? Eight minutes is still a long time to sit around waiting. My old card takes about half an hour for complex scenes, and I just use that time to check emails or grab coffee. The upgrade cost must have been serious, and for what, to shave off half an hour? Seems like the old setup was getting the job done, just a bit slower.

Honestly I felt the same way until I started doing client work with tight deadlines. Those saved minutes add up when you're rendering multiple scenes a day, you know? It went from being a coffee break to actually getting projects out the door faster.
