Pro tip: a simple layer filter saved my main project file from a full crash
I was working on a big set of floor plans for a Reno job, about 80 layers deep. My CAD kept freezing every time I tried to pan. A guy in my office said to make a filter that only shows the active work layers, not the whole stack. I set it up to only show the walls, doors, and my current notes. The file went from lagging for 10 seconds to moving smooth in under one. Has anyone else tried this trick with really dense drawings?

Wait, you guys are still not using layer states for that?

Three years back I spent a whole weekend remaking a floor plan because I forgot layer states existed. My buddy still brings it up every time we start a new project together. Some lessons you only learn the hard way, I guess.

Oh man, @quinn_nguyen just called out the whole class. Layer states feel like that one tool I keep forgetting exists, so I just hack it together with a bunch of copies. It's a bad habit, honestly.
