A simple detail view cost me two full days of work
I was finishing a set of shop drawings for a steel fabricator, and the client asked for a specific weld symbol callout on a connection detail. I thought it was a five minute fix. The problem was, the symbol in our office standard didn't match the exact spec they referenced, and I had to dig through three different old project folders to find the right one. What should have been a quick update turned into a two day hunt, checking notes and calling a retired guy I used to work with. Has anyone else gotten stuck on a tiny detail because of conflicting standards?

Did two days of work really hinge on a single symbol?

Oh man, @zarapalmer, you have no idea. I once spent a whole afternoon because I used a comma instead of a semicolon in a config file. The whole thing just fell over. It's crazy how the smallest thing can break everything. Makes you feel both brilliant for finding it and silly for missing it.

It's like the universe has a sick sense of humor, right? One misplaced dot or bracket and poof, two days of work gone. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt that just says "semicolon." The worst part is when you finally find it, you feel like a genius for spotting it and a total clown for missing it in the first place. Your mileage may vary, but I swear debugging is 90% staring at the screen and 10% realizing you're an idiot.
