Spent $60 on a UV light wand for removing old tape residue - best money I ever spent on restoration

I had this old scrapbook from 1987 where the tape had turned dark brown and brittle. Tried picking it off with tweezers and made a mess. Bought this little UV wand online for about $60 and it softened the adhesive perfectly without hurting the paper underneath. Has anyone else tried UV light for sticky residue removal or do you have a better method?

Oh man, I feel your hair dryer pain. I tried using a clothes iron on low heat once and ended up with a melted photo and a very sad afternoon.

Wait wait wait, a UV wand?? Like the kind you use to cure nail polish or check IDs?? And it actually softened that old tape goo without ruining the paper? I've got a whole drawer of vintage photos with that nasty brown adhesive crust and I've been sitting here with a hair dryer like a chump. I need to know the brand you used because I've tried goo gone and it left those gross oily stains on everything. Did it smell weird or anything when you used it? I might have to tell my students this trick for their history projects if it really works that clean.
