Was a diehard pegboard fan until I tried French cleats in my garage last month

I always thought pegboards were the only way to organize tools, but my buddy Jeff showed me his setup with French cleats and I had to try it. After spending about $60 on a few oak boards and routing them myself, I hung up my circular saw and drill in under 15 minutes. The real kicker was being able to shift the tool holders around whenever I got a new tool, which pegboard hooks never let me do. Has anyone else made the switch and found it easier to adjust over time?

Oh man, same. I fought with pegboard for years in my garage and finally got sick of it. French cleats are a total game changer. I built my whole wall out in an afternoon and now I just cut new blocks when I pick up a tool. I can move my wrench rack down or swap out a shelf for a bigger storage box in like 30 seconds. It's way more forgiving than drilling new holes every time you change your layout.

Does the wood ever split when you're cutting the 45-degree angle on thinner strips?
