TIL my crooked shelf installation makes the space feel more lived-in

Everyone tells me to straighten it, but I think perfection looks too sterile.

Totally get what you mean about perfection looking too sterile. A little crookedness adds some real character to a room. Keep the shelf as it is.

Ha! My friend Marnie had a shelf like that in her old apartment. It tilted just enough that you'd notice, and everyone who visited ended up talking about it. She called it her 'conversation piece' and refused to ever straighten it.
