My wife said I was crazy for using a caulk gun to fill a chip in the bathtub

I mean, I was out of epoxy and the chip was the size of a dime, so I just loaded the tube with clear silicone. It's been holding up for 6 months now, no leaks. Has anyone else used a totally wrong tool that somehow worked?

Honestly if it works it works. I've used a putty knife as a screwdriver in a pinch.

My old landlord in Phoenix used clear silicone for everything, chips, cracks, even a loose tile. It lasted years in that rental bathroom. The key is to overfill it slightly, let it cure fully for 48 hours, then shave it flush with a razor blade. It stays flexible so it doesn't crack when the tub shifts.
